Introduction


Beginning from the Yuan Dynasty, the lacquer coating technology of China reached its second pinnacle. The Yuan lacquer wares could be divided into four categories: single-color lacquer, lacquer with gold relief, mother-of-pearl lacquer and carved lacquer, of which the carved lacquer attained the highest achievement.
