Introduction

Gold and silver wares are important carriers of traditional Chinese culture and arts. They made their first appearance in the Shang Dynasty, and gold and silver ware inlaying techniques had come into being in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods. The emergence of gold and silver vessels was relatively later. They were seldom seen before the Han Dynasty, and did not have a large number until the Tang Dynasty.
