Celadon porcelain took up the majority of the porcelain in the Sui Dynasty, and a certain amount of white porcelain also existed. The porcelain in this period featured coarse, thick and heavy body, and glaze was applied to both inner and outer surfaces. In the Tang Dynasty, some well-known kilns began to make their appearance: Yue Kiln in the celadon porcelain system became the representative of the south, and Xing Kiln in the white porcelain system the representative of the north. The porcelain industry of China began to develop in a more sophisticated direction.
