Introduction


Porcelain with cloisonne enamel decoration is a kind of delicately painted porcelain made for the exclusive use of the imperial palace. Porcelain of this kind is rare in number, and each piece bears date mark at the bottom. This overglaze porcelain second fired by enamel was first created in the late Kangxi Period, and prevalant in the Yongzheng and Qianlong Periods. By the time of the late Qing Dynasty, the number fired was greatly reduced, and the production place had been moved to Jingdezhen instead of in the imperial palace.
